  i remember there being 2 or 3 people with obvious alcohol abuse problems. One sister (who in the past had had "same-sex" issues) got so angry at another brothers house while she was drunk she went into a rage and started to throw things around and break them. They took her privelages away for a few months. It was really funny to see her squirm in her seat during the meetings cuz she couldnt comment. lol

  What foods are yall addicted to??

  i'm pretty sure everyone has certain comfort foods, or foods that you could eat almost every day and not get tired of..i do anyway.. what foods is everyone here totally stuck on?

  PLEASANTVILLE: what it means to Betty

  i was watching pleasantville (tobey maguire, reese witherspoon) on tv last night.

  as i watched i started thinking that although the movie isnt about religion, the way the characters and storyline evolved, reminded me of how it felt like to be in the "truth" and then to be in reality.. the movie is how two teens get stuck in a 50's tv show similar to the perfection of "leave it to beaver" everything is perfect in this town, but everyones in black and white becuase they are not in reality.

  when the kids arrive they start to the show the people in the town art, books, love, sex and everything starts to turn into color.

It starts to rain and there is fire and people fight and bleed and cry. And when they are exposed to it they turn into color too. I just felt like it was metaphoric as to how before we were in black in white being in the Org but when we were exposed to everything else the world has to offer we turned to color. I know its a little silly but i felt it was a good comparison

  Does anyone have any movies they ever felt were similar to the experience of being a witness and then leaving?

  i have personally been reading a lot more of the "serious" posts lately and thought it would be good for me (and hopefully others) to share a bit of humour.

  i will start by telling a funny little story about what my six year-old daughter said this weekend:.

  i played touch football this fall on weekends.

  My cousin called her 3 year old daughter from her job to see how she was doing at home with her Grandpa, who was babysitting

  She said "we are fine mommy NOW GET BACK TO WORK YOU ARE GONNA GET FIRED" lol

  One day they were at my apt. and She caught me singing "naughy girl" by Beyonce..She tapped me on the leg and said "im feeeeeling sexy" as she stroked her arm. I was like what the ??? lol

  How is the WTS like other religions?

  i have a question about money...

  the WTS asks for money to help pay for Bethels expenses and what those people are doing is volunteer work. Do you think they are pocketing this money? Im just not clear as to what benefits the governing body gets with this donation money.

  How can i explain myself better?

  so me and my best and oldest friend from growing up still keep in touch even tho she is a jw and is married to one and most of her family members are (as are mine).

  for the most part she respects me and my decision to have left the borg.

  this week however, we made plans to meet and we've been sending emails back and forth to make plans and generally just let each other know how we are doing.

  So me and my best and oldest friend from growing up still keep in touch even tho she is a JW and is married to one and most of her family members are (as are mine). For the most part she respects me and my decision to have left the Borg.

  This week however, we made plans to meet and we've been sending emails back and forth to make plans and generally just let each other know how we are doing. Its quite difficult to see each others due to our busy schedules, so we rely on email to interact alot of the time. Anyway, in one of the emails she said she is really sad i left the truth and the she wishes i would reconsider coming back. That it would be a comforting thought to have me around again. I explained to her that altho i loved her alot and would always be her friend, its highly unlikely ill go back cuz it is not in my heart. I tried to explain further some of the things that bothered me not about people, but of the Org. itself. And now how more specifically now i feel more happy and alot more at peace. She came back and somewhat debated what the points i made, and sounded a bit like a "religious person" I dont know if that makes sense, but once i left the Org. when i hear someone say things like "God will forgive he is a God of love and the restrictions he puts upon us are for our own good" and so on and so forth it sounds weird. Its not that i dont believe God is good, but when u hear it in the terms JW use it just feels like religious mumbo-jumbo.

  Anyway i really would like to send her proof and a more extensive explanation as to why this Org. is no good well atleast for me. And maybe not even for her. It is very hard to break that barrier i guess. Any suggestions?
